A Note From Fr. Oswaldo
My God, listen to me….
We have been told that faith enters through the ear, and the image that God always listens to our prayers. God always listens and hears us, and speaks differently, on the day of Pentecost. The Holy Spirit granted the Apostles the gift of the tongue, so that they could speak in the name of God to all the peoples of the earth. The Gospel almost always begins with the phrase, “At that time, Jesus said to his disciples…. He gave them this parable… or spoke to them in public and in private.”
It is time for us to ask ourselves this question: does God listen to my prayers, or is it that I do not listen to God who answers me? In a thousand ways God speaks to me, but I am the one who covers my ears or looks the other way when the word confronts me with the truth.
At the moment when Jesus calls Simon, he was fishing, he was in his ordinary routine, hearing the call of Jesus changed his whole life, and he assumed the name of Peter, until he gave it up for the Gospel. When Saul persecuted the Christians, his ears and senses were closed, when he heard the voice of Jesus in his heart, his conversion was complete.
If I ask God to listen to me, I must be willing, also to hear it, to listen to Him… here I am, Lord, tell me that your servant listens.
Dios mío, escúchame….
Se nos ha dicho, que la fe, entra por el oído, y la imagen de que Dios escucha siempre nuestras oraciones. Dios siempre escucha y nos oye, y habla de diferente manera, en el día de Pentecostés, el Espiritu Santo le concedió a los Apóstoles el don de la lengua, para que hablaran en nombre de Dios a todos los pueblos de la tierra. El Evangelio casi siempre comienza con la frase, “ en aquel tiempo, Jesús dijo a sus discípulos….les dirigió esta parábola…o les hablo en publico y en privado”.
Es tiempo, de que nos hagamos esta pregunta ¿ Dios escucha mis oraciones, o es que yo no escucho a Dios que me responde?. De mil maneras Dios me habla, pero soy yo, quien se tapa los oídos o miro para otro lado cuando la palabra me enfrenta con la verdad.
En el momento en que Jesús llama a Simón, él estaba pescando, estaba en su rutina ordinaria, escuchar la llamada de Jesús hizo que cambiara toda su vida, y asumiera el nombre de Pedro, hasta darla por el Evangelio. Cuando Saulo perseguía los cristianos, sus oídos y sentidos estaban cerrados, cuando escucho en su corazón la voz de Jesús, su conversión fue plena.
Si yo le pido a Dios que me escuche, debo estar dispuesto, también a oírlo, escucharlo a Él…aquí estoy Señor dime, que tu siervo escucha.
