Here’s the link to our website where you can learn more about program offerings and register your family for faith formation: https://taocatholic.com/ff-registration/

Remember to sign up for your Zoom meeting with me here: https://signup.com/go/nSMVDfP

Tuition and fees are the same as in the past, $45 per student, grades prek-9 with a family cap of $135 plus $35 per each child enrolled in grade 2 Sacramental Preparation.  The fee for Confirmation Preparation is $70 per student. Please send your payment with the fee worksheet found on the registration webpage.

Volunteers Needed

Volunteers are needed both for our in-person program and for our distance learning program.  How would you be willing to help?  Shoot me a quick email back!  Please!?!

Communication

Flexibility and clear communication are going to be keys to our success this year.  I will communicate with you when we have firm plans about upcoming activities so that we can adapt to changing health safety needs and protocols.  We will learn together which forms of communication work best.

Sacramental Preparation – Grade 2

Sacramental Preparation for First Reconciliation and First Communion will include attending a Parent Meeting in October and will be completed through distance learning with Sacramental celebrations in-person.  You’ll choose to attend the Parent Meeting via Zoom on Tuesday, October 6 from 6:15 – 7:15 pm or in-person on Wednesday, October 7 from 6:15-7:15 pm. Parent/child retreats that would normally be held in person will be outlined at the meeting and adapted for distance learning.

Confirmation Preparation – Grade 10 or above

Confirmation Discipleship Training Sessions will begin next week, September 16 from 6-7pm at St. Peter’s Church in the courtyard.  Materials will be handed out, we’ll pray together, and we’ll talk about the remainder of our sessions that will be held over Zoom.  More information here: https://taocatholic.com/confirmation/

For those who would have been Confirmed in May of 2020: I hope to have more information for you about our rescheduled Liturgy very soon. When I do, I’ll pass that information and final preparation instructions to all in the group. Thank you for your continued patience!

Pass it On

Other years I’ve sent out a paper mailing inviting people to register for Faith Formation.  This year, I’m depending on online promotion and this email to spread the word.  Please help me spread the word by forwarding this email on to others!

Cabin Fever Faith: The Spirit’s Rhythm in Our Life

Faith Formation Registration

Registration is now available for faith formation. Several options will be available including distance learning via books and paper, digital learning and in-person traditional and Catechesis of the Good Shepherd classes.

Distance Learning

Home learning materials will be tailored to the needs of each family and will include a mix of paper and books and digital content. Distance learners using books will be utilize curriculum from Loyola press:

These curriculum are simple, include a bilingual parent guides and allow several children to be taught from the same texts, enabling families to learn together without a lot of preparation.

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS)

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is a program of faith formation based on the work Dr. Sofia Cavalletti, a Biblical scholar trained in Catholic theology, and Gianna Gobbi, a Montessori educator.  As with other Montessori education settings, the child in CGS leads their own discovery in faith.  The Good Shepherd Catholic Montessori School in Ohio has a helpful explanation of CGS on their website: https://www.gscmontessori.org/academics/curriculum/catechesis/

Consider also going over to YouTube and watching some video clips about the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd model of faith formation: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=catechesis+of+the+good+shepherd

Twenty students will be admitted into our Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Classrooms on a first-come-first-served basis.  CGS classes will run from 6:15-7:45 pm on Wednesday nights.

Traditional Faith Formation

The traditional model of faith formation utilizes a school-based systematic learning methodology in small groups.  Most grade levels use workbooks or include a writing or creative expression component.  Our ACC faith formation program will be utilizing resources from Our Sunday Visitor for most classrooms.  Learn more about Our Sunday Visitor curriculum here: https://aliveinchrist.osv.com/aicinfo/overview/parish

Some videos about the Alive in Christ curriculum series can be found: https://aliveinchrist.osv.com/aicinfo/videos/parish

Classes taught in the traditional model of faith formation will be held from 6:15-7:15 pm on Wednesday nights.

Register for Faith Formation online or print and send in a paper form.

After filling out your registration form, sign up for time to meet with Lisa to choose your distance learning or in-person model.

Cabin Fever Faith: The Journey We Make!

Toward a Path Forward: Faith Formation Surveys

  • We recognize that families have different needs going into this year.
  • Please complete the volunteer survey if you were a previous faith formation volunteer, or if you are considering volunteering this year.
  • Please complete the parish survey if you are a family who attends faith formation, or if you are a community member who wants to contribute to the conversation.
  • Filling out the surveys will help us know how to best support you and your family in faith.
  • If your family consists of adults only, fill out the survey anyway, our parishes want to stay engaged with everyone, and creative faith formation solutions may offer new avenues of connection for adults!
  • Registration forms and information about available formation options will follow in the next weeks.
